A Week at the Grand Riviera Princess

January 17, 2022 By Fareen Leave a Comment

We headed to Cancun and stayed at the Grand Riviera Princess for a week. Check out all that it has to offer.

This is a partnered post. All opinions are my own.

Last month, we headed out of the country for a much needed vacation. While we were nervous travelling with everything going on, we were very happy to see the safe practices put into place at the Grand Riviera Princess.

The Resort

Grand Riviera Princess is located approximately 45 minutes from the Cancun airport and 10 minutes from Playa del Carmen. The 5-star resort is located on the beach and also has a huge natural habitat. It is on the same grounds as the Grand Sunset Princess.

We arrived at the resort in the evening. Our taxi dropped us to the main building and then a shuttle took us to the Platinum area for check in.

The Room

When it comes to all four of us staying in a hotel, my number one concern is will there be enough room. Especially when we are staying for a week, feeling cramped is the worst. Our room was so spacious with 2 beds, and a sitting area with sofa and chairs. The room also had a large terrace with a hot tub on the balcony.

Our bathroom had a separate area for the toilet and shower. It also had double sinks and a tub so plenty of room to spread out.

The View

We had the most spectacular beach view from our room. This provided for some amazing sunrise and sunset views for those times when we were still in the room.

The views around the resort were quite stunning as well.

Food

When it came to food, there were so many options available. There were two large buffets in the main building that served all three meals. There were a couple other buffets that served just breakfast and lunch.

During the day, there were options available throughout the resort. Stands that served burgers and tacos. We visited the taco stand daily.

Tacos

There were twelve a la carte restaurants that we could book every night.

Check out the ones we tried. Our favourite was definitely the teppenyaki at Miso.

Entertainment

The nightly shows in the theatre provide the perfect post-dinner entertainment. From a Michael Jackson Tribute to Grease, the Roots of Mexico to illusion, there is something for everyone.

One of our favourite things was the Silent Party. Everyone gets headphones and are able to listen to three different djs. It was so fun and so entertaining. This is definitely not to be missed!

The Beach

It was important for us to be at a resort that was on the beach and one that we could actually enjoy. The platinum area was right beside the beach which was so convenient. The sandy beach was perfect for making sandcastles and there were lots of loungers to enjoy.

There was a bar right on the beach for drinks and also for quick snacks like burgers, chips and salsa and hotdogs.

The Pools

We hung out at the pools for most of the day everyday. There are twelve pools located throughout the resort. Some even had swim up bars which made it very handy.

Activities

The hotel offered so many activities throughout the day. There were free non-motorized water sports, tennis courts, archery, water aerobics, ping pong – so much to do!

Covid Safe

The resort had many things in place to keep people safe during Covid. Masks were to be work anytime indoors. There were sanitizer stations throughout the resort and when eating at one of the buffets, each person received gloves.

For Covid testing for our return flight home, the hotel arranged it all. There were signs throughout letting us know the process and two days before our flight home, we headed to one of the ballrooms to get our test done. The process was very smooth and efficient.
