One of our favourite burger places in Calgary is Smashburger. I was introduced to the US chain when it opened in Calgary three years ago.  We love their burgers and their sides, especially their sweet potato fries and fried pickles!

Smashburger has opened it’s third Calgary location in McKenzie Towne Center. They have generously given us vouchers for free kids meals so you can check out the new place for yourself! There are lots of vouchers to be won, just be sure to enter!

One of Q’s favourite places to eat is Edo Japan. He loves the Sukiyaki Beef (extra sauce if he’s sharing with mamma!), a side of sushi if he’s extra hungry and of course, it has to be topped off with a cinnamon apple spring roll.

Edo Japan is feel good food. It’s healthy, satisfying and so delicious that Q even finishes off the veggies.

It’s my birthday! It’s the perfect day to start celebrations for 5 years of Food Mamma. Q was in diapers when this blog was started. Now he is talking about starting a blog of his own. Time sure does fly!

oktoberfest in calgary – win tickets!

The end of September – time for Oktoberfest! Oktoberfest is a very popular festival in Munich Germany which runs from the end of September to the first weekend in October. Over 200 years since it’s inception, over 5 million people attend the event every year celebrating with beer and music and food.

Can’t make it to Munich? No problem! Steam Whistle is bringing an authentic Oktoberfest to Calgary. For the 2nd year, Steam Whistle is hosting its Oktoberfest party complete with oom-pah-pah music, clanking steins of delicious Pilsner and bonafide German food. It’s Friday! What better way to kick off the long weekend than with a giveaway to one of my favourite events.
The Rocky Mountain Wine and Food Festival is taking place in beautiful Banff in May 30 and 31. At the Banff Springs Hotel, guests will be able to sample from an extensive array of wine, scotch, beer and other offerings, paired with delicious food samples. I know most people go for the libations but I love it for the amazing food options.
