A little bit of sweet, a little bit of heat, this strawberry salsa is a refreshing treat for the summer.
Strawberry salsa may be my new favourite thing. I love the combination of the sweet strawberries with the savoury onions and jalapenos. It’s a nice kind of refreshment, like another summer favourite, Watermelon, Feta and Mint Salad.
We go through a lot of strawberries during the summer. Not only do we enjoy them on their own, we use them in crumbles, milkshakes and drinks. With all the outdoor entertaining we hope to do this summer, I anticipate this being served a lot with a side of nacho chips and a cold bevvy in hand.
You don’t need many ingredients to make this super tasty dish. Strawberries, red onions, cilantro, jalapeno and lime, with just salt and pepper for seasoning. Simple and fresh ingredients with a lot of flavour. Just chop everything up and put it in a bowl. That’s it.
Ideally, you want to refrigerate it for an hour, to let all the flavours develop. The important thing to do while making this salsa is to taste. If it’s not as spicy, add more jalapeno. If your lime is not so juicy, just add the whole amount. Taste, taste, taste – the advantages of doing the cooking, right?
