Hard to believe that it’s less than a month until the Calgary Stampede. It’s definitely one of the highlights of summer. The parade, the skyride, the games, the rides, but most importantly, the food! The list of Stampede eats was released a few days ago and it is a delicious one! The list offers savoury and sweet options as well as questionable ones that include crickets and kangaroo.

One of our favourite chocolatey treats has to be puffed wheat squares. These seem to be loved by most people. Little wheat puffs covered in chocolate and made into squares. So good! These are no-bake, so dangerous that they can be made in minutes.

Disclosure – Omo Teppan & Kitchen hosted my family and I for dinner. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I headed to Omo Teppan & Kitchen a few weeks ago with the boys for dinner. Z loves to pretend that he’s cooking like a Teppanyaki master and Q loves sushi so everyone was excited to check the place out.
Omo means hospitality and did they every live up to their name. From the moment we walked in, they made us feel right at home. The service was great, which is huge for me.

It’s been hot lately. Which has been amazing since we had the longest winter ever. Cooking outdoors has been happening on a daily basis. Why warm up the house when we can throw things on the bbq? I’m always on the quest for simple recipes that are packed with flavour. This cilantro and mint chicken fits the bill!

We have been eating a lot of shishito peppers lately. Shishitos are long twisted green peppers that are mild in heat and sweet in flavour. Well, maybe that’s not totally true. Although they are mild, sometimes a couple will sneak in that have a little bite to them.
Sure we grill all year long but with the weather being hot and beautiful, our bbq is getting used more than usual. You can bet, if we have peppers in the house, they are definitely going on the grill.

March is a big month around here. It’s my birthday month but also the blogiversary of Food Mamma. Usually there are celebrations all month long. This time was different. It was busy! Like crazy busy. From taxes to kids to work to hubby being away, we almost forgot to make a big deal of it!
It’s hard to believe that Food Mamma was started eight years ago! Q was just one at the time It started out as an outlet to place my never ending food pictures. I was constantly photographing my food so it just made sense to put them somewhere to get shared. When I started the site, never did I imagine the great foodie community that I would become part of.

If I had to choose a dessert that was simple but looked like it had taken work, it would be a no-bake cheesecake. It’s surprising how easy they are to whip together but the minute you say cheesecake, people think that you put a lot of effort into making it. This no-bake lavender cheesecake is no exception.

This past weekend, we went out for dinner with our friends to Pampa Brazilian Steakhouse. We always enjoy a good meal there and I was not just looking forward to all the delicious meat but the cheese bread.
Cheese Bread from Pampa Brazilian Steakhouse
Brazilian cheese bread, also known as Pão de Queijo, is a small little cheese puff. It’s made with tapioca flour so so perfect for those who are looking for something gluten-free. It bakes up a little crisp on the outside and hollow on the inside. It is a cheesy, chewy delight.
