When Famoso asked us to check out their new Spring menu, we jumped at the chance. We love their pizzas and enjoy all they have to offer. The family and I headed to the Mackenzie Towne location for dinner and while we perused the menu, the kids got to play with pizza dough. What a fun idea!
We started our meal with the Blackberry and Goat Cheese Salad. This is a seasonal salad that is back for the Spring. The mixed field greens with arugula and blackberries was topped with candied pecans and a blackberry vinaigrette. This salad just popped with the addition of the mint which really stood out and brought a freshness to the vibrant salad. We would highly recommend this!

One of our favourite meals is Chicken Mogo – a creamy coconut dish with cassava and chicken. It’s so tasty and worth the two pots it takes to make it in – one to boil the cassava and one to cook the chicken and then the two are combined. I’ve been loving my Instant Pot and decided to experiment and see if this dish could be made in one pot. Happy to say that the experiment was a success!

Q is raising funds once again, so feel free to donate here if you’re so inclined. Hope to see you on Sunday!

Last year, my kids and I attended a Springfree Trampoline event at their store. From jumping on friends’ trampolines, we knew we already loved the Springfree but we discovered something more…tgoma! The first outdoor interactive game system for a trampoline. Guilt-free screen time. Yes, that’s right.
It’s important for me to work with brands that I love so I was thrilled to partner with Springfree as an ambassador. The kids were thrilled when the new trampoline arrived. Luckily they weren’t home for set up so this mamma got the first few jumps!

Thanks to social media, I had seen a glimpse of the offerings from The Street Eatery, and found myself drooling with most of what I saw. I was thrilled when I was invited to check them out for myself.
I went with my favourite little foodie, Q, for dinner on a Friday night. We went early and as the night wore on, the place filled up. The first thing you see on the wall is an amazing mural. The Street Eatery is a creation of three friends who were inspired by their travels and their roots. Their food is inspired by street food from around the world, from places like Korean and India. They opened last year but unfortunately due to a pipe burst earlier this year, they were forced to temporarily close. After the experience we had, we are thrilled that the place is up and running!

Mother’s Day is a week away and what better way to celebrate than with brunch. Scones are always popular for breakfast or brunch but not every mother has a sweet tooth. These Cheddar and Chive Scones are perfect for those that prefer savoury over sweet.
Drop scones are my favourite kind of scone to make. They are super easy and the perfect dish for the kids to make. They are made with cream and come together so quick and easy. Just dump everything into a bowl, stir and drop the batter onto a baking tray. Seriously.

After hearing how amazing the Instant Pot was, I had to get one for myself. I have been playing with it for a few weeks and am amazed at how fast things can be made in it.
One thing that I love to make in it is Khichri. Khichri is a dish made with rice and split moong beans and is cooked until almost mushy. It’s a simple dish but one that provides so much comfort. It’s one of the dishes that was introduced early to both kids and they love it. The beans provide a lot of nutrients and protein and makes me feel good about feeding the dish to the kids. It’s finished off with a knob of butter, making it creamy.

It’s always fun to go to one of your usual restaurants with different people. You get to learn about new things on the menu and try things you have never tried before. I went for Dim Sum a couple weeks ago with some moms from Z’s school. As a family, we love going for dim sum but always order the same things. It was nice to try a few new items.
One of the new items I tried was Dried Scallops with Tobiko Fried Rice. My friend said we had to order it…I’m so glad we did! The rice was mixed with green onions and tobiko with a large sprinkling of scallops on top. It was so full of flavour and texture and I was glad it was a large portion so that we didn’t need to skimp out.
You know those people who just love rice and need rice with everything? I am definitely not one of those people. I could leave it. So imagine how good this rice was if I was dreaming about it and couldn’t wait for another fill!
